Terms, privacy & data collection
Version 2026-09-12
1. Agreement
By browsing Trusted Badges, creating an account, or submitting a verification, you agree to these terms and to the collection and use of the information described below. If you do not agree, please stop using the site. Choosing “Essentials only” on the notice at the bottom of the page limits collection to what is strictly needed to operate and secure the site.
2. What we record on every visit (essentials)
These items are needed to serve pages, prevent abuse and keep basic traffic counts, and are recorded whichever choice you make: the page address you opened, the date and time, your network (IP) address, the country your connection resolves to, your browser’s user-agent string, and the site or link that referred you.
3. What we record when you accept (expanded metrics)
If you select “Agree & accept”, you approve each of the following, all used for product and marketing metrics:
- Approximate location derived from your network address: continent, country, region or state, city and postal area. This is coarse, network-level location — we do not read GPS unless you separately grant it in your browser.
- Time zone and time-zone offset.
- Preferred language and full language list.
- Device and browser details: platform, device category, touch support, processor cores, approximate memory.
- Display details: screen size, window size, pixel ratio and colour depth.
- Connection quality: connection type and estimated speed.
- Display preferences: dark or light mode and reduced-motion setting.
- Page title, referring link, and campaign tags in the address (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content).
- A random visit identifier and session identifier stored on your device so repeat visits can be counted, plus whether you are a returning visitor.
- The choice you made, the time you made it, and the version of these terms you accepted.
We do not collect special-category data (health, biometrics for advertising, political or religious views), we do not read your contacts, files, clipboard or messages, we do not fingerprint you across other websites, and we do not sell your data.
4. Verification submissions
If you submit a verification, we additionally process your name and date of birth. Your identity document images and selfie are captured by our verification provider, Stripe, and are held by Stripe rather than by us; we receive only the pass or fail result and the verified name and date of birth. Where documents are supplied to us directly, they are stored privately and deleted 90 days after a decision. Issued badges show only the information printed on the badge.
5. Why we process it, and on what basis
Essentials are processed on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site. The expanded metrics above are processed on your consent, which you give with the “Agree & accept” button and can withdraw at any time.
6. Retention and sharing
Visit records are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted. Data is stored with our hosting and database providers and with our payment processor for paid verifications. We disclose data to others only where the law requires it.
7. Your choices and rights
You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site or by emailing us at trusted-badges-support@dbi.life, after which we return you to essentials only. Depending on where you live, you may also request a copy of your data, correction, deletion, or object to processing. Contact us at trusted-badges-support@dbi.life to exercise any of these rights.
8. Service terms
Badges state that the identity document presented at the time of verification passed an automated check. They are not a background check, credit check or guarantee of a person’s conduct. We may refuse or revoke a verification where documents appear altered, mismatched or fraudulent. Verification fees are for the check itself and are non-refundable once a check has begun. The service is provided as is, without warranties, to the fullest extent the law allows.
9. Changes
If we change what we collect, we publish a new version of these terms and ask for your approval again before recording the expanded items.
